What is Digital UIC?

Digital UIC is an initiative at the University of Illinois Chicago that enables students, faculty, and staff in sharing their unique digital projects. In collaboration with our vendor Reclaim Hosting, Digital UIC provides diverse publishing platforms for the UIC community to shape their digital identity. It is free, flexible, and open to active UIC community members, and users have the ability to select, and deploy websites that fit their design interests.

Our users include students, from the undergraduate to graduate level, who highlight their accomplishments, such as professional portfolios. Researchers have the opportunity to share bits, or the entirety of their research lifecycle. Those who teach at UIC have utilized the services to create open-classrooms and facilitate class-wide projects.

While Digital UIC allows users to harness their technical, web building skills, it also encourages them to make thoughtful selections of the type of projects to digitize for the audience you wish to engage.

Interested in getting started?

Fill out the interest form on the Homepage, by clicking on the button “Get Started.” The Digital Publishing Librarian will review your project within one business day.

Please note that Digital UIC is designed for digital scholarship and digital humanities projects, digital exhibits, course-related projects, student portfolios and student blogs.

Digital UIC does not support the publication e-commerce, official UIC website, unit or department websites, marketing content, class courses, lab or institute websites, student or sensitive data (i.e. grades, IRB research, etc.) or UIC branded conferences and event. These types of sites are official UIC communications and should be hosted in RED. Visit https://red.uic.edu/ for more information.
